Calendar 4 Ewe /
Christmas
4 Dogs...
(not happening) Two traditions normal
for this time of year are not going to happen .
The calendar do to my poor eye sight for most of 2007. Add to that
the recovery time needed to bring my eye sight back to normal after the
surgery. Christmas 4 Dogs because of the day Christmas falls on.
Samoyed Herding Day...
This event was held in
Long Beach on Saturday, October 13th .Due to having had my second eye
surgery just two days before I was restricted by the doctor from doing
the testing personally. I found myself in the strange position of
rotating the actual testing to Scott and Matt. They traded off from
tester to stock handler while I judged from ring side. This event went
off very well.
The highlight of the event was a 3 month old Samoyed puppy born
without eyes. She did a great job only running into Choice once during
her run. Choice was brought in in case a sheep decided to get nasty. He
was quietly laying down in the arena and the pup bumped into him.

The Weather...
The
weathermen do their best, it is just not good enough.
Keep
foul weather gear available to you at all times. Training and trialing go
on no matter the weather. The exception is if the facility is rendered
unusable.
Another
thing to remember is that we do not put up the lights at class on rainy days so if
you can not make it out before dark you probably will not get training that
day.
AHBA Certificates
...
Sometimes it seems like it takes forever - however, it
is
usually not the fault of the volunteers that do the work for AHBA. They
just typed up and sent certificates for titles earned back in April
2007.
The process goes
like this: sponsoring clubs sends all the information to Linda Rorem
(sanction coordinator) - that should be done within 30 days after the
trial/test ends (but typically doesn't). Linda marks down the receipt to
show that the club has sent in results and forwards them to Siouxsan
Eisen
who types all the information into the AHBA database and emails all
the
ones that qualify for certificates. They try very hard to get the
certificates in the mail within a week or less.
They are all volunteers working jobs, living lives, trying to train
and
show their own dogs and keep AHBA going on a timely basis. If you are
missing
a certificate, you may contact them at whwolf@jps.net or Siouxsan Eisen at
lbsioux@hotmail. com and they will make all attempts to determine why it
hasn't
been issued, or if it is lost in the mail.
