Spreading the truth about Global warming...

Derek Mueller, a researcher at Trent University, was careful not to blame global warming, but said it the event was consistent with the theory that the current Arctic climate isn't rebuilding ice sheets.

Ellesmere Island was once entirely ringed by a single enormous ice shelf that broke up in the early 1900s.

At 170 square miles and 130-feet thick, the Ward Hunt shelf is the largest of those remnants. Mueller said it has been steadily declining since the 1930s.

Questions?...(about his article)

What was the human population of Ellesmere Island in 1900?

The automobile was not yet in use then so I guess the right question would be what was/is the domestic animal population of the island ?

What is the methane production of a seal? Could they be responsible for this?

What happened to the ice on Mars and why is it underground?

The southwestern United States needs that water can it be towed into Long Beach harbor?

What is a super volcano and how often do they erupt?

Herding Trial Season...

This fall's herding season is starting off slow in this area  with only a couple of AHBA trials during September then bang! October has one every weekend.

Do you think you can come out two weeks before a trial and be ready for it?

Breeding Season...

I will  again be sorting the ewes and placing them either with the new ram or far from his reach about 23 miles, at the Anaheim location. Generally all the neutered males end up at Anaheim mixed with a couple or ewes.

Once breeding season is over the neutered males are brought into Long Beach so that the pregnant ewes can get some rest before lambing. This is done by moving the bred ewes to Anaheim until  close to their lambing date where once again they are brought to Long Beach and the mixing of the flock continues until the lambing season is done.

How do I know when it is done? Simple, five months after I move the Ram to Anaheim it will no longer be possible for a ewe to be pregnant. Yes, the ewes that I have brought to Anaheim to keep them from breeding will be brought back to Long Beach. I have to keep them out of the Rams reach.

If this seems complicated to you it is. Just wait till lambing starts then the mathematics of being a shepherd begins in earnest. How many sheep are where and when gets to be pretty exciting when mixed with the spring trial season.
