  What happens when...

... you break a person’s crook you borrowed during running your dog?
You’re obligated to buy a new crook to replace the one you broke. When you do so you may keep the broken crook or if you wish, give it back to the person who owned it before you broke it.

... somebody runs your dog for you or is helping you run your dog and they break their crook?
You’re obligated to buy a new crook to replace the one they broke.

... during your run your dog bites and damages a sheep?
You’re obligated to assist in the repairing of that damaged sheep. You also need to make a contribution to the repair kit to replace the supplies used in repairing the sheep. If we have medical assistance, either a vet or a trained health care worker, it is a nice gesture to pay for their lesson that day.

...the sheep jump the fence and run off?
Jerry  will attempt to locate the sheep and bring them back. If there’s an unreasonable delay of class, you need to assist in bringing the sheep back. If they cannot be located and brought back to class, you have to pay for the lost sheep.

... you volunteer to do a special project, e.g., herding demo, work on panels, stock handle?
It is desired that you plan to show up one hour before the published starting time for the event.

...you come out near the end of class?
You need to participate in taking down lights or whatever objects we’ve used in class that day. Remember one of the reasons we’re out there so late is because we stay for your training.

...it rains that day?
We hold class, usually no matter what. We have even held class when the radio has reported the road and in one case the freeway was reported closed; in both cases it was not. We normally will not run after dark because putting up the lights could be dangerous.

HAY EWE THERE!...( Free fertilizer )

Do you want to collect excellent fertilizer for that organic summer garden? I'm looking for help preparing the Long Beach sheep pen for the fall rainy season. Without this special event both the sheep and class would be very sorry come the rains. If you can pitch in, the sheep will love you. We'll be out there Sunday, August 10 after 9 am (trying to beat the heat) till (?).

Lights and Courses...reminder for shorter days to help!

If you're among the first students to get out to class help put up the course we are working on that day.

If you're one of the last seven (even if I am running your dog) make sure you check with the other 6 students to see if your help is needed for the take down of the lights, course, feed and water the sheep (be sure to leave the pen gate open unless asked to do otherwise), before you leave.

Remember on rainy days we will not continue after dark so lights will need not be put up.
